Nestled in the southwestern corner of Savannah, Sandfly is a vibrant and historically significant community. After 1870 and the implimentation of the Central Avenue street car system, Sandfly began as acrossroads between Isle of Hopes Wormstoe Plantation, Betehesda's Home for Boys and Pinpoint and soon became one of the city's first suberb neighborhoods. Located just off the Truman Parkway and close to the midtown corridor, it easily connects todays residents and guest to the rest of the city. Preserving and adding to the authentic character of the area has been an important part of the neighborhoods resurgence. Sandfly is home to approximately 2,000 residents in a compact stretch of land that spans a little under two square miles.
